What did you expect? To forget about the Porn-Lamp?

Hey Treasure & co. :-)

A lot of spooky stuff is happening these days! That is so much fun you thought of the Porn Lamp aswell!!! Og.. That lamp is still only a few stamps away, however thy arent willing to give it to me :-( Crap!

Another spooky happening was that i Yesterday wrote a guest ( Melanie - Horticulture-girl) and the same day she had been thinking of me! What coincidences... im speechless!

well Back to the Porn Lamp... i like saying/writing that... its just sooo.........naughty :D

It resides at the Willemstraat, where all of the staff is living now (both city and Jordan). It has been painted and stuff and now it looks really cool. And all of the staff are happy to live together with both of the hostels! So thats really cool!

Harald has remade the lower appartment at the Schinkelstraat and is living there by himself. Our appartments are currently on the way to be involved in some kind of "getting the red light ladies of the street" kind of thing... a good thing i think!

As for Guido! I asked around, with the oldest staff there, seemed to know him! They said that there had been made some regulations towards having homeless people at the hostel ( which i believe was directed pretty uch at Guido only) unfortunately. I didnt see him on the streets either :( Lets hope he is allright!

Well back in Copenhagen everything is nice.. I have a little holiday from school, and im enjoying it to the fullest! Im involved in IFES and its international Bible Study Group, which is really cool! I am really looking forward to an Iron Maiden concert here in COpenhagen!!! Its going to be awesome!!!

But actually im just chilling in my Orange Fuzzy Clogs ( house shoes) at the moment.. enjoying life!
What are you doing Treasure.. Its been a long time since I have heard from you.. The last thing i remember was something about you moving into a house with other christian people!
How is that working out?

Well... again.. this mail has gotten long, so i'll better stop!

write back

cheers

wedding

Hey Carl - it is so great that you could be at Heidi's wedding. I am also jealous !! Thanks for posting the pictures, they are great !
I miss Amsterdam - one day, we'll be back and walk through Vondelpark and see all that we miss :-)

truly amazing

no way! "the porn lamp!" what's even scarier is one of the original favors i wrote down was to "go in search of the porn lamp!" HA! where does it reside now?

i love love love your post and the pictures. it made my heart ache to be back there! thank you so much for posting about the wedding and the weekend and more! do you by chance know if Heidi and Marc are having a stateside reception? "To end this post, I want to say Thank you! You are truly wonderful and I love you very very much! I have been lucky to meet people like you, and for that I am greatful! You guys rock!" i wholeheartedly concur with you. our time at the shelter was indeed an amazing time with amazing people.

i would definitely love to hear anything else about the trip and see more pics! how's life back in copenhagen? thanks again Carl! your post made my day!

Pics from the wedding and more!

Hi Everybody!

Earlier today i wrote in here, but my comp. messed up, so now I am back at it again!

THIS IS A LONG BUT VERY THOROUGH - dont know how to spell it - POST
Well lets start off with what probably everybody is dying to hear about... The Wedding!!!

The wedding was held at the Christ Church near the flea market at Waterloo Plain. A small but very beautiful Church. I was there in excellent time (cudos to myself) and found myself sitting later amongst Ned and Jakub. Very nice! As we waited Sam would drop by, and new people such as Magda from Poland and Eva from Germany would join in (all later staff).
Suddently Heidi would walk in. My smile grew and grew.. She was soo pretty and as our eyes met, the biggest smile came onto both our lips! the wedding had started and man..... we were happy!

They both looked so cute during the whole ceremony that was very relaxed and nice. We would sing some worship before the speak from the Pastor and all. All in all it was a very nice sermon with the Lord in focus! Good stuff!

As the wedding ended Ned was so kind to bike me back to the Shelter where i stayed, for my presents! Yep.. i forgot them! and then afterwards he would bike me to the Dwaze Zaken where the reception was held. A very low key, relaxed atmosphere was spread amongst the guests who all were blowing bubbles (from a bubble maker thing shaped like a wedding cake). Really funny.. I havent seen that before!

After the reception the family went for dinner, while I would go (for my very first time beyond the reception at the Shelter City) with Magda and Eva - my new buds!
Yummi - fish sticks and mashed potatoes the shelter way! btw what other way to make it?

Thereafter we went for Reception No. 2 - V.I.P's only.. This was also at the Dwaze Zaken with snacks, drinks, cake, bubbles and of course Salsa dancing.... A lot of fun!

Well that pretty much sums up the Wedding. If you want additional Info, just ask!

Now for "THE MORE PART"

I just read your post Treasure, and it was scary! You know me to well :-)
About the Favors - I just read your mail today! - You wrote:
- "please take a long leisurely stroll through Vondelpark" - I did
- "do take lots of pictures while you're there" - I did
- "please grab a guitar and sing a couple of songs in the cafe" - I did
- "please buy some fishermans friend and coca-cola light for yourself and know that i would have treated you if i had been there" - I bought the F. Friend in Denmark and treated myself to some Coke lights :-)
- "sketch something while you're there" - I did
- "have a late night conversation with Harald" - I did

That just scared me!!!

Well I had a truly magnificent time in our beloved city! I wrote in the staff book ( which has taken me 4 years to do so), but it made me realise how much i loved the city, the people i worked with and the guests! You people have filled a big part in my life, in three of the most wonderful months i have lived to see yet! I am truly greatful to God that I have met all of you! You are very dear to me, and for the very first time, I realised how dear! (its alot)

I just loved strolling through the city! Seeing new places, old places and for once, gave myself time to see the city by night! That was awesome! The Vondelpark was great, and it was great to be treated with respect (for once) by the new staff.. They were really cool. They invited me to brunch, poetry night, Sattelite 7 concert ( a dutch band) and were just plain kind. As well for the guests...
I found out why people always were hanging out in the cafe all day, but still havent found out why people use chocolate sprikles on their food... I guess i never will understand!

i recon this is getting far to long, but if you want to know more about my trip ask, because im dying to tell everyone!

To end this post, I want to say Thank you! You are truly wonderful and I love you very very much! I have been lucky to meet people like you, and for that I am greatful! You guys rock!

cheers
Carl

Here's a little about how I'm doing. No new (or old for that matter) boyfriend. Yes, I have a new job. I work as a waitress at a tea room. I'm taking 3 seminary classes (NT, Cross-Cultural Communications, and Counseling Women) and living in a 3 bedroom appt with 2 great girls. And because of these two great girls, I have my strong southern accent back. :p
Good night all and take care!

the Faithful One

O lot is changing for us right now. After Amterdam I thought that it might be Gods way for me to work at my parents office and to live around my home-area. So I started a 2-year training to become an "assistant tax accountant". After completing that I worked another year without schooling. All this was pretty challenging and not easy at times. But God made it through for me and on friday I had my last workday.
We're leaving for the States on the 27th of July. I don't have a job jet over there. Right now it fells like our hole life is changing. Our appartment became a few piles of "stuff", our jobs, our families, the language we use.
Anyways, this time in Germany was difficult, in the same time so precious. And it just makes me praise our Faithful God.

Beautiful experience

I just wanted to add in addition to my comment on Andrews post, and FANTASTIC experience I had last Tuesday!!

Keith Caputo visited Copenhagen and it was brilliant. I was standing in front of him the whole time as he performed. It was so beautiful. The songs, the setting the music. I was touched to the very bone! I know alot of you guys don't like him, and thats allright, but nevertheless I had a brilliant night!!!! I have some photos on my cell, and i will try to get them on my comp. so you can see them, and share the experience with me!

otherwise check out www.keithcaputo.com ...

WOW

04 May 2006

Word up, Carl!

Hey Carl,

I thought about you this morning and was praying for you.

When I read your massages on the grouper, I thought it was about time I said something. So I decided to break the silence.

Sounds like there has been a lot of activity over the first part of the year for you with arm surgery and school and faroe island travels. Staying busy, eh?

I think I remember you mentioning something about pursuing teaching of some kind. Is that working out all right for you?

I have taken a break from school for the past two semesters. I am going back to Seminary this summer to start up classes again. I am taking a language and culture learning class this summer that is a part of the multi-cultural program. I have tried learning German a "million times" before, but never came out with much more than incoherent child babble. Maybe I will get it down one of these days.

During the time I have been off from school I have been discovering many things about myself.

I went to see the doctor a few months ago and he said that I was suffering from depression, so I decided to start taking anti-depressants. I feel a lot better now. The challenge now is to remember to take my pills every day.

I have also been reading a book called "Highly Sensitive Person" by Elaine Aron. A friend of mine, who also has depression, recommended it to me. After glancing through the book, I have realized that I get overwhelmed and over stimulated by chaotic situations in life. I have always wondered why I get tired a lot. Maybe this is the reason.

Anyway, there has been a lot of self-discovery and I am praying that it will result in a more manageable life-style for myself.

I am still living with my parents and working at the bank as a teller. I think this season in my life is simply about waiting. I am involved in my bible study group at church, so that gives me some community to relate to. But for the most part I am waiting. It gets hard sometimes watching the world rush by with busyness. Sometimes I wonder why I can't put more effort into hurrying to get somewhere or why I can't push my circumstances towards resolution faster. But then I realize that I don't have the energy for all that.

Mostly, I am trying to overcome the mindgames of worry. Trusting that God has not left the picture and that life is not always going to be "stuck" is a challenge, but that is my struggle for now. I am just trying to stay mentally available to do whatever God has planned for today.

I read your comments about having trouble praying and reading the Bible. I just wanted to say: "rest in God." OK. So that isn't so easy, eh? I am trying to do it too. But I want to remind you as well as myself of this: Your his child. He is watching out for you. He won't lose you. He knows your heart. Somehow, he will see you through. Just listen for him throughout your day and you'll be fine.

Anyway, I hope your doing well.

God's blessings to you.

Andrew
